Too long...

Dear oh dear! Seems like time is slipping away from me and yes it truly is! I wish I was spending free time sewing, knitting and creating but alas a school teacher's work calls!
It's that time of year again when reports are due to head home after a busy first semester. And so I'm grudgingly saying 'bye bye' to those carefree hours :(

But on the up side, I have organised my own girly craft day! :D A few close friends have been invited and accepted, yay! You may be thinking, so what? a craft day? that's all? But for me I've never participated in one, and yet here I am having organised one! What to cook though is beginning to loom in my mind.

Definitely baking for sweet treats, but lunch, something a little more substantial. It is winter here, any ideas??

Also any ideas on crafty thoughts to share with my girl friends??

Love to hear your thoughts!

Happy crafting!

Things I 'need'!

So I've been reading blogs, sites AND got worked up when I couldn't find pins for a recent sewing experience....

Yes, I've decided I 'need' a pincushion! (Amongst other things!)

I could buy on
e, but that would be boring. Etsy seller TheDailyPincushion has some BEAUTIFUL designs! And I simply can't wait to design my own. Of course there are many other talented pincushion creators, but I've been inspired by the 'Big Blue Flower', see left picture.

Jen also has a nifty tutorial for making cute miniature pincushions. Just the thing I need for a girls craft day I'm to host this coming July!! I'm sure the girls will love it!

So for now that is my most 'needed' item. Other things I'm most likely going to need is a good sewing kit. I know, I know it sounds terrible doesn't it! I do have bits and pieces lying about the place, but a good sewer can't have that surely!! Bare with me, I'll get my habit sorted!!

Must have!

I have decided!

Just read a post on Amy's site and I've decided I must have the pattern she used!
It's simply gorgeous! Ok I don't have children, but many of my friends do, wouldn't they simply love a little dress or romper suit?!?!

Don't you think they look cute?

Knitted out!

Boohoo, I can't believe it i really did run out of that wool! That means there is a cute cardy crying out to be finished, and to think it only needs another 8 or so rows.. Makes me grumble!

Oh Well, will get to
Lincraft soon and grab another ball of yarn... hmm maybe another two or three or four! Colourful yanrs make me happy! :D

A question for those expert knitters, I made another small jumper for a mini me, the border at the waist line curls up. Any ideas how to fix this?? I'm not about to iron it, I'm not that daft but wanted your opinions. Would a damp cloth work? Or would that affect shrinkage? Please help.

As for the said jumper I've finally snapped some pics of it, but as yet haven't uploaded to pc. Will do so soon I imagine.

On another note, nothing new for many of you but I've 'discovered' the wonderful world of
Whip Up! Awesome creations there as well as other blogs I've visited. Do check them out if you haven't heard of them. I will add more as I read more!

What are your favourite sewing, knitting, crafty blogs? Do share!

Nearly there :)

I'm really excited!

The yellow cardie i mentioned last post is nearly there! Only probs i think i may just run out of wool :( So close to the end too... Nevertheless i will battle on and persevere! I can't wait to see my creation, with the help of Sublime of course!

Just in case you are wondering what book i've been using, it's:

It's a fantastic little book oozing with beautiful, beautiful projects to make. A knitted bunny, blanket, cute little beanies for girls AND boys, and of course cute cardies, and jumpers. Boy, I can't wait to have children if i can and dress them up in my creations. Is that wrong? I certainly hope not!

Next project will probably some flannel pj pants found here.
I managed to find some freebies from various places online and can't wait to hit the sewing machine! Hopefully if i remember i will post links to acknowledge those gifted creators. If only i had the skill these crafters possess!

This whole sewing and knitting craze has taken me by surprise somewhat. I've always been so impatient with projects 'cos they took too long, were too difficult, or i simply didn't have that gentle knack with fiddly tools. So many cool websites and blogs i find im in heaven!

*Sigh* Maybe i am becoming like my mother after all!!

Off to knit a line or two...

Hopefully pics next time!!

One of many?

I'm not sure why I am doing this.. do i have the time? I ask myself, perhaps not but then life is a little like that isn't it? God willing, this will be the first of many!

I've a liking to things crafty and creative so there's no prizes for guessing what this blog will be mainly about! Current projects? I hear you ask. Knitting a dark yellow cardy for a tot, it's a pattern from Sublime which have the most gorgeous knits for kids!. It's coming along ok-ish. I'm not super fast like my mother who taught me the handy skill. But by and by i shall post pics when the yarning is done!

More to come.. hopefully sooner rather than later!
